Program: Creativity Alive
Hosted by: Literacy Alive and Tgosketch Illustration
Goal: Teach students the basics of shoe design and provide a fun competition that encourages creativity and artistic confidence.
1. Overview for Instructors
This activity introduces students to gym shoe design through a short instructional lesson. Students will complete a coloring page using the official shoe template. All finished artwork will be scanned or photographed and submitted individually for judging. One winner will receive a pair of Jordan shoes. The winner will be announced before December 10.
2. Instructor Responsibilities
Before the Session
Print one shoe design template per student.
Prepare coloring materials.
Accepted tools: crayons, colored pencils, markers.
During the Session
Teach the shoe design concepts:
Color blocking
Patterns and textures
Clean outlines
Contrast and shade control
Theme building
Encourage creativity and originality.
Remind students that neatness and technique matter.
Answer questions and support design ideas.
After Students Finish
Ensure every student clearly writes:
Full name
Grade level
School or program name
Make sure pages stay clean, flat, and intact for scanning.
3. Submission Process
Scanning or Photographing
Each student’s artwork must be scanned or photographed individually.
When photographing, please ensure:
Good lighting
No shadows or glare
The artwork fills the frame
The photo is clear and straight
Submitting Entries
Each entry must be emailed individually to: admin@tgosketch.com
Required subject line:
“Shoe Design Competition Entry – Student Name”Only one artwork per email.
Deadline
All entries must be submitted by December 8.
4. Competition Judging Criteria
Judges will evaluate each design based on:
Creativity and originality
Use of techniques taught during the lesson
Clean and neat presentation
Color choices and harmony
Overall visual impact
5. Instructor Tips for a Smooth Session
Show a few real shoe designs to spark ideas.
Encourage students to think of a theme before they start coloring.
Offer guidance on pattern placement and color choices.
Remind students to work slowly and stay inside their outlines.
Check that each student writes their information clearly.
Handle artwork carefully to keep pages clean and presentable.
